2008 Topps Chrome Baseball blaster box

As in the previous post, picked up one of these to check out the cards and see if i wanted to go for a full box. Check out the vid:

Alright, so you caught me. Every card has a printed signature on it, so sue me :p I purchased this to see if i liked the product and i think i do.

The bust:
Base set is 220 cards, i got 19 of them which were not refractors/inserts.
Refractors i got: Jason Varitek Copper REF 242/599
                         Scott Kazmir
                         Brian Roberts XFractor
                         Casey Kotchman XFractor
                         John Lackey Blue REF
                         Chase Utley XFractor
Inserts i got: A Rod T205 card
                   Jacob Ellsbury 1969 Topps Card
                   Mickey Mantle HR#440
                   Mickey Mantle MMSC48
                   Prince Fielder 1934 Diamond Stars

As you can see the cards are very nice looking. Im really impressed with the design even though i got tricked by those autos. The pictures are very well photographed however i find the xfractors a little eye hurting (Poor wording) but the other refractors are quite nice. The inserts of Mantle are nice looking with a silver background. The Ellsbury was probably the pull of the box as he is a great player. Was surprised to get this much action for a blaster box.

So box wise i give this a 5 out of 6 due to the expectation of getting nothing exceeded.
Product wise i'd say a 4 out of 6.

Like the design, i've heard this is just regular topps chromified. If this is true, i may well be better off purchasing base topps and saving the cash.

2008 Donruss Threads blaster box 0% Mojo

So i busted a couple of boxes today. First one was 2008 Donruss Threads blaster pack that i purchased from allstarcardsinc from OCT and EBAY.

So the base set has 150 cards, i got 22 out of my 25 with Peyton Manning as the only recognisable player.
I got Gridiron Kings of Keith Rivers #/250 and Wes Welker not numbered.
I also got a Red Retail Foil of Torry Holt.

For a blaster box it met expectations, i really like the design of the base cards in this product. The photography is quite nice and it reminds me of UD SP products (Which i hate due to the very limited hits per box ratio). I've never purchased a Donruss football product (I'm tossing up right now whether to get Donruss Limited or Donruss certified - let me know) before but i'm quite pleased with these after the dissapointment of Panini Prestige basketball. Cards are way to thin for the amount you are paying and the design leaves me feeling meh about the whole product.

Will be doing an order for a large amount of boxes so the breaks will be rationed out over the rest of the year as i'm out of cash after that :( I've included a couple of pics so you can check out the base and inserts.

So for a box rating i give it 1.5 out of 6 Packages.
For the product im gonna give it 3 out of 6 Packages.

I'll toss up whether to order a box of this or not as apparently it has letterman's which are my favourite.

Day 1 NBA Results

So my fav team Celtics beat the shaq-rich Cavs team. This match really went to show that good solid defense is the key factor to winning any game. Quiet came from Rondo but he had the tenacity that he showed in last years playoffs and im sure the triple doubles will come. Lebron was his usual dominant self, but quality three point shooting by Allen and co, kept the cavs at bay.

Final Score - BOS 95 - CLE 89

Just watched the ring presentation for the Lakers, game ensues.

Site revamp 1st post

So, it would appear obvious i've switched the addiction from Poker to trading cards. I'll try and keep a log of what i'm up to and what's going on. My most recent box break was sullied by sellin a few packs to friends and the hits came :(

As you can see, upsetting to say the least oh well.
I'll try and bust what i can and show any maildays as they hit.
I've tried to make this site similar to the Stale Gum site as i think he has it right, i love his attitude and the way he collects to build sets. That's what i am a set builder, however when the hits come, i'm sure to enjoy them.
